Gin Tour Experiences Around The UK

About me

Hi thanks for stopping by. I’m Helen, I live with my husband of 21 years (a rum lover) in Oxfordshire. I’m a corporate marketing manager by trade but during lockdown decided to start this blog to help feed my creative side and to be honest something interesting to do.

I’ve been a huge lover of gin for as long as I can remember, but for over 10 years I have been actively collecting gin. I started with places I had been, buying gin as a souvenir ( beats a fridge magnet). In my last job, I was lucky to do a lot of international travel, so I had collected a lot of different gins from around the world, ( and of course the duty free versions of the favourites too).

Lockdown has seen my gin obession grow – as well as just about everything else. However this time I’ve focused on buying UK craft gins and wow was I surprised just how many there are now!

So far, I have over 320 bottles and that’s not counting minis, each one means something to me, – which I record on a little index card. If you are interested, I share reviews on gin and my other great love books via instagram – https://www.instagram.com/books_gin_beautiful_things/.

But as there are lots of gin blogs out there doing gin reviews… this is something else.

As my collection has increased, as has my interest in gin so I decided to take it a step further and learn more about my favourite spirit and not just drink it – this is a blog about GIN EXPERIENCES.

I have visited a few distillers over the years, but there are so many more that I want to visit and I can’t wait to make gin at all the wonderful gin schools popping up – who better to learn from. The total number of distilleries registered in the UK now stands at 563 so it might take me some time to get round them all!

Now that we can finally travel, staycations are the thing to do, so I am going to make it my mission to visit as many as I can this year and next. I am so excited, my first staycation will be in Cornwall and then we will be travelling the NC500 around Scotland.

So please come along on my gin journey – I’m hoping it will be great fun.

Feel free to message me any suggested places you think I should go next..
